Family Education

Family Education

Parent and guardian education on the topics that come up most often in PPEC care.

These guides come from the American Academy of Pediatrics and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and are written for families rather than clinicians. They explain the general principles.

They do not replace your child’s own care plan. Equipment, settings, doses and emergency steps are specific to your child, and your nurse or therapist will teach you hands-on. If anything here differs from what our team or your child’s physician has told you, follow your care plan and call us at 407-403-5822.

For a life-threatening emergency, call 911.

Breathing and airway

Monitors and equipment

Feeding and nutrition

Measuring abdominal girth is taught hands-on by your child’s nurse, since the landmarks and what counts as a concerning change depend on your child. Ask us to walk you through it.

Medications and seizures

Infection control and skin
